	CHARME unfolds like a prophetic dream in which a queer deity named Syncretic Centaur envisions their future love life through the mediation of Yoruba spirits. Combining multiple choreographies performed by entities inspired by Brazilian syncretic religions, the video constructs a symbolist visual language to explore a broader imagination of dissident spiritualities.

I wrote the project between 2018 and 2020, drawing from oracular dreams I had with Exu Veludo and Oxum, as well as my longstanding relationship with Saint George. At the time, I shared these dreams with Afro-Brazilian thinkers Charlene Bicalho and Duan Kissonde, who helped me decipher what the spirits were trying to tell me. In the video, Charlene lends her voice to narrate this story.It’s the 5th piece of the Syncretic Series, with support from the John O'Brian Research Travel Award and the Concordia Conference and Exposition Allowance. It was developed during artist residencies at the Mexican Center for Music and Sound Arts (2023) and, primarily, at the CABHUM collective residency at the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo in Montevideo (2025).


CHARME se desenvolve como um sonho profético no qual uma divindade queer chamada Centauro Sincrético visualiza sua futura vida amorosa por meio da mediação de espíritos iorubás. Combinando múltiplas coreografias executadas por entidades inspiradas nas religiões sincréticas brasileiras, o vídeo constrói uma linguagem visual simbolista para explorar uma imaginação mais ampla de espiritualidades dissidentes.

Escrevi o projeto entre 2018 e 2020, a partir de sonhos oraculares que tive com Exu Veludo e Oxum, além da minha relação de longa data com São Jorge. Na época compartilhei esses sonhos com Charlene Bicalho e Duan Kissonde, que me ajudaram a decifrar o que os espíritos queriam me dizer. No vídeo, Charlene empresta sua voz para narrar essa história.
É a 5ª peça da série Sincrética, realizada com o apoio do John O'Brian Research Travel Award e Concordia Conference and Exposition Allowance. Feito entre residências artísticas no Centro Mexicano de Música y Artes Sonoras (2023) e, principalmente, com o coletivo CABHUM no Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo de Montevidéu (2025).

Sacred Jurema (Jurema Sagrada) is an independent experimental short film that proposes
a non-linear narrative based on the life trajector of the septuagenarian
Jurema. The video art was shot between 2020 and 2021 in Brasília within 
the context of quarantine. In the context of obscurantism and acute
uncertainty of the permanence of life, the film proposes an ancestral
activation through matriarchal dreams inside dreams that syncretize Umbanda 
and Brazilian popular Catholicism.

Jurema Sagrada is the fourth video art of the Sincrética series. The
post-production of the work was financed by the Chair of Research in Digital
 Arts and Literature Canada - ALN NT2 (Université du Québec à Montréal) in 
collaboration with the Brazilian digital platform Aarea. (BR/CA, June 2021)
Jurema Sagrada é um curta-metragem experimental independente que propõe uma narrativa não-linear a partir da trajetória de vida de minha avó septuagenária Jurema. A videoarte foi rodada entre 2020 e 2021 no cerrado de Brasília, de forma totalmente independente, dentro do contexto de quarentena. Num presente de obscurantismo e incerteza aguda da própria permanência da vida, o filme propõe um resgate ancestral através de sonhos matriarcais que sincretizam a umbanda e o catolicismo popular brasileiro. 
Jurema Sagrada é a quarta videoarte da série Sincrética. A pós-produção da obra foi financiada pela Cadeira de Pesquisa em Artes e Literatura Digital do Canadá - ALN NT2 (Université du Québec à Montréal) em colaboração com a plataforma digital brasileira Aarea. Sinfonia Lunatique is a Latinofuturistic video art that takes place on a hypothetical tropical island without a spatio-temporal location. Hero I and Hero II (Pavão and Rodrigo D’Alcântara) perform in a state of rage while searching for each other on the lost island. The Divinity, interpreted by a 3D model inspired by Drag Queen Uhura Bqueer, watches and comments on the heroes’ patriarchal behavior. It’s the 3rd piece of the Syncretic Series, having been made in partnership with Espaço Caixa Preta (RJ - location) and Ateliê Xinela (DF - 3D effects).


Sinfonia Lunatique é uma videoarte latino-futurista que ocorre em uma ilha tropical hipotética sem uma localização espaço-temporal. O Herói I e o Herói II (Pavão e Rodrigo D'Alcântara) atuam em um estado de raiva, enquanto procuram um ao outro na ilha perdida. A Divindade, interpretada por um modelo 3D da Drag Queen Uhura Bqueer, assiste e comenta sobre o comportamento patriarcal das personagens.

Brasileira (Karol Lira) lives alone in a house in the interior of the cerrado (brazilian savannas). While preparing fruits for an offering, reality and fantasy are mixed in appearances of the mythological being Capikarã (Rodrigo D’Alcântara). 
Capikarã is the 2nd video art of the Syncretic Series, held during the suvbersion of Cerrado Ecoarte artistic residency at Jardim Botânico de Brasília - JBB (DF, July 2019).


Brasileira (Karol Lira) mora sozinha em uma casa no interior do cerrado. Enquanto prepara frutas para uma oferenda, realidade e fantasia são misturadas nas aparições do ser mitológico Capikarã (Rodrigo D'Alcântara).

In Hybrid (Híbrida), the narrative is symbolically constructed by Ana Matheus Abbades’s nails prostheses and by AVAF’s multicolored queer compositions. The experimental universe presented in the video is the hybridization of these elements for an update of the Greek myth of Medusa.
 It’s the 1st work of the Syncretic Series, held during an artistic residency at Espaço Esponja (SP, Brazil. Syncretic is a series of experimentation in video, sound and performance arts, proposing contemporary dissident mythologies. The series started to be recorded in 2019 and works like a videoartistic EP. I’ve been creating the videos mainly in artistic residencies or collaborative art spaces, in which I invite other dissident artists to dialogue and propose updates and subversions of the Western hegemonic imagery.Sincrética é uma série experimental em&#38;nbsp; videoarte, som e performance, propondo mitologias dissidentes contemporâneas. A série começou a ser gravada em 2019 e funciona como um EP videoartístico. Crio a maioria dos vídeos em residências artísticas ou espaços colaborativos, nos quais convido outres artistas dissidentes para dialogar e propor atualizações e subversões de imaginários hegemônicas.

Dimensões variáveis“The Last Patriarch” is a study of images of the male ancestors of my family. During the process of putting these images together, I came across various questions, looking at who these men were and are. I think about the process of deconstructing the patriarchy rooted in the culture that forms our Brazilian identity (and worldwide). The images have already been presented in posters or GIF format. Both formats aim to be ephemeral and reveal the origins of Northeastern, Rio de Janeiro, indigenous, African, Portuguese and others that I don't know, which together with the female origins that preceded me form a collage that resulted in me. This set of images is an altar made to decompose over time.
"O último patriarca" é um estudo de imagens dos ancestrais homens de minha família. Ao decorrer do processo de montar essas imagens me deparei com várias questões, revirando quem foram e são esses homens. Penso no processo de desconstrução do patriarcado enraizado na cultura de formação de nossa identidade como Brasil (e mundo). As imagens já foram apresentadas em lambe-lambe ou GIF. Ambos formatos visam o efêmero e revelam as origens nordestina, carioca, indígena, africana, portuguesa e outras que desconheço, que somadas às origens femininas que me precederam formam uma colagem que resultou em mim. Esse conjunto de imagens é um altar feito para decompor-se com o tempo.

In “Neovitruviano” , understanding the pandemic moment of social isolation as a trigger for questions of self-image and its confrontations, I project fragments of Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man in two different frames. In the first frame I perform above the projection of the Vitruvian, rubbing his image against mine. In the second, I leave only the geometric plane of the original image and occupy it with my Brazilian bixa (queer) body, dancing and subverting Da Vinci's model of the Eurocentric ideal.
Em “Neovitruviano” , entendendo o momento atual de isolamento social como disparador de questõ es da auto-imagem e seus confrontamentos, projeto em dois frames distintos fragmentos da obra O Homem Vitruviano de Leonardo Da Vinci. No primeiro frame performo por cima da projeçã o do Vitruviano, friccionando sua imagem contra a minha. No segundo deixo somente o plano geométrico da imagem original e o ocupo com meu corpo bixa brasileiro, danç ando e subvertendo o modelo de ideal eurocê ntrico de Da Vinci.

Ascensão e Queda das Bixas é um filme videoartístico de média-metragem, no formato de antologia de performances e danças,&#38;nbsp; protagonizando artistas dissidentes latinxs. O filme se passa num futuro distópico no qual entidades surgem após eras de dominação da heteronormatividade endêmica opressora. A subversão e atualização do sagrado ocidental unem-se em elementos de mitologia sincrética e cultura pop, nessa obra experimental de audiovisual. A narrativa se dá em 3 Passos (capítulos) que trazem estéticas futuristas, neobarrocas e pós-pornográficas:&#38;nbsp;
Passo I: Valência; 
Passo II: Olhos caídos;

Cada Passo é precedido de um prólogo.




Ascensão e Queda das Bixas (Ascension and Fall of the Bixas) is a medium-length videoartistic film, in the format of anthology of performance arts, which stars dissident Latinx artists. The film is set in a dystopian future in which dissident entities emerge after ages dominated by the oppressive endemic heteronormativity. The subversion and updating of the Western sacred merge together with syncretic mythology and pop culture elements in this experimental media work. The narrative takes place in 3 Steps (chapters), preceded by prologues, which brings futuristic, neo-baroque and post-pornographic aesthetics:


Step I: Valiancy;


Step II: Droopy eyes;


Step III: After. 
Each Step is preceeded by one prologue.&#38;nbsp;

Nesta videoperformance, uso cintos de paraquedismo e implico uma relação erótica com o sol. Meu corpo dissidente cai artificialmente até que desfaleço. O trabalho é baseado em uma investigação de ícones cristãos relacionados à queda. O ânus solar de Georges Bataille, o corpo homoerótico de São Sebastião e o legado da queda de Ícaro são aspectos da pesquisa que aparecem como plano de fundo dessa performance para câmera.

In this video performance I wear skydiving belts and imply an erotic relationship with the sun. My queer body falls artificially until my final faint. The work is based on an investigation of Christian icons related to the fall. Georges Bataille’s solar anus, San Sebastian’s homoerotic body and the legacy of Ícarus’s blasphemous fall are aspects of the research that appear as the background of this performance for the camera.

A Celeste é uma instalação composta por um amontoado de cetim azul costurado por minha mãe Regina Célia a uma rede. A peça fica suspensa no ar e é iluminada por baixo, através de dois refletores azuis. O título é uma metáfora da origem do nome de minha mãe, que significa "Rainha do Céu", sendo o céu azul de cetim uma releitura fetichista do sagrado.



A Celeste (The Celestial) is an installation made in collaboration with my mother Regina Célia. The work is a heap of blue satins sewn by her to a net suspended in the air with blue reflectors illuminating below. The title comes as a metaphor for the origin of my mother's name, which means “Queen of Heaven” and the blue satin sky that goes back to a fetishist retelling of the sacred.
